Breast cancer network helps women battling illness.

Since 1992, The Bridge Breast Network has helped women connect to and find help to fund breast cancer treatment.

Logotech-4-Good's $500 promotional product donation means the organization gets the bags needed for an upcoming fundraiser. The bags are not only a very usable gift but offer the nonprofit a new way to spread awareness of its work through its communities.

In the past decade alone, The Bridge has served over 150,000 North Texas women and connected more than 19,000 with medical treatment, according to their grant application.

The Bridge aids uninsured, underinsured, and women in underserved communities -- getting them the critical medical care they need, said Terry Wilson-Gray, executive director.

For every dollar donated, Bridge clients receive nearly ten times that amount in medical care, she said. Over 300 medical providers and 150 community partners in North Texas volunteer their professional services for women referred to The Bridge. These medical professionals and institutions significantly reduce fees to make such a considerable discount possible.

"On the day of surgery, everyone is donating their time for the client," Wilson-Gray said. That includes the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and surgical nurses.

Founded by a breast surgeon 30 years ago, The Bridge works with women to ensure their cancer does not mean bankruptcy. Neither do they have to choose between getting care or caring for their families.

More women -- even those with insurance -- find help through their education programs.

When women are diagnosed with breast cancer, The Bridge's program teaches them how to read their reports, ask informed questions about their care, and advocate for themselves. The educational program aids women to demand the treatment they need, Wilson-Gray said.

While funding has seen significant cuts recently, a fundraiser is set for April 21 to help continue bringing those services to women.

Attorneys Serving the Community (ASC) selected The Bridge Breast Network as its 2021-2022 beneficiary. The volunteer organization of 400 women lawyers, judges, legal industry service professionals with J.D. degrees and law students from the Dallas/Fort Worth area selected The Bridge as its 2022 Silent Auction & Bazaar honoree.

Organizers expect to raise upwards of $200,000 for their work, said Diana Morales Piccolo, silent auction chairwoman and ASC volunteer.

She had just learned another organization could not help with the bags when Logotech called to announce the grant, Morales Piccolo said.

"We are so excited to be selected, to make an impact on local charities here that don't have the access to national funding," she said.
