Top 5 Things You Should ALWAYS Have On Your Website
First off, if you don't have a website yet, you are behind!
With today's modern technology, most people hit the internet first when they are investigating a new business they may want to work with. Social media is of upmost importance to keep your brand fresh (think LinkedIn). A website goes hand in hand to all those platforms. As a professional business, you want (and need) a website that reflects your professionalism and uniqueness.
The website needs to showcase why YOU and YOUR company is worth working with (especially if you are in a high demand business already). This comes into play when you are determining the style and overall look of the website - but that's just the beginning. Throughout the website, you'll need all sorts of other things. But ... WHAT? Today, we're going to discuss the top 5 things you should ALWAYS have on your website.
- An Attractive and Clean Home Page. The home page is where people visit when they type in your main URL (ex. www.logotech.com) This page is where the heart of your site is. This page is where your clients will judge your professionalism and decide if they really want to work with you. This page should have information about your business, any current promotions and information to all categories/topics. It should be chalk FULL of links, going to places all over your site!
- An About Page. A frequently forgotten page, an About page is an important and vital part of your business. This is where your clients will get to know you, read about your business as a whole and, hopefully, create some sort of connection with you.
- A Contact Page. The About page should ALWAYS be linked to your Contact page, somehow. There are multiple ways you can do this, even if it's just a button saying, "click here to contact us." Many people will try to find a way to contact you, having a question about a product or service you offer, and will land on the about page. If there's no contact information, they will quickly leave the page and your site, with you losing business.
- Clean and Professional Graphics. Graphics are the key to a beautiful site. If you don't have professional graphics, the quality of your site will lack tremendously. Now, you don't need to necessarily hire a professional photographer to take your pictures, but your images do need to be beautiful, clean and high quality. Your images should all be in high-res to avoid nasty pixelation issues across devices.
- A Responsive Theme. While not necessarily something you have "on" your website, having a responsive theme is another greatly important aspect of a professional website. Because readers, customers and clients are looking at your site on all sorts of different devices and screen sizes, a responsive theme is key to being sure it always looks beautiful for everyone. A responsive theme simply means that the site will resize appropriately to whichever screen size you are using (desktop or mobile), not distorting any objects on the site.
There are so many things you need (and want) to have on your website, but these are by far some of the most important! With these 5 things, you can really lay the foundation for a wonderful site that you can keep building on!
When you are launching that site, remember to tell your existing clients and community about it, too. This is good opportunity to order promotional products with your logo, contact information and URL. Also send an email to customers, a press release to industry magazines and blogs, and to your local news outlets, too.
